Female Smokers on Rise in India

It looks really bad finding women  into smoking with big percentage in a country like India. A new study  finds where females claim, smoking as an ‘effective’ way to relieve stress, monotony and lethargy.

The research conducted on employees from BPO and Media fields respectively concluded that 150 out of 1000 women in India are smokers.

But in a country like India, such number really matters if the culture and society will be taken into account. Indian climate never allows anyone to consume nicotine and tobacco but women tend to be smokers affected by the fashion trends.

But, these days, for the sake of job status, fashion and bad companions, women are on the top in smoking particularly in BPO sectors, media and top MNCs in India, the study reveals. But very few are addicted to smoking for stress relief, researchers analyzed.

The research came with a finding that 8 to 35 percent of women are smokers particularly in media including print, electronic and new media technology following other sectors.
